Inglourious Basterds – Review

Inglourious Basterds

So I went to see Inglourious Basterds last week, Quentin Tarantino’s latest cinematic offering, and I loved it. It was fantastic, Tarantino at his best. It was incredibly historically inaccurate, but I think that added to the story and made it a lot better and a lot funnier.

Like any Tarantino film it was divided into chapters, some set years apart. The story follows two plot-lines, one involving the Basterds and one involving a Jewish lady who had escaped the Nazi’s a few years previously. Neither know of each other’s existence throughout the film, and neither come into contact with each other. It’s quite remarkable actually, but it adds heap loads of interest to the story. Brad Pitt is advertised as the lead role, and in the film it is his name that appears first in a long list pf stars, but I think the real lead of the story is Standartenführer Hans Landa aka “The Jew Hunter”, played beautifly by Christopher Waltz. The way he commanded every scene and brought fear not only to the characters in the story but the audience as well was fantastic.

As with any Tarantino film there was a lot of gore. Not as bloody as some of his other work but still it was pretty horrific stuff. I won’t go into too much detail because that would spoil it. I will tell you though that there was strangling, testicle shooting and head beating; just to give you a flavour of it.

The dialogue was beautiful in this, a moment at the beginning with Christopher Waltz pondering on why as humans we fear the rat but not the squirrel, even though they are both rodents; is wonderfully poetic. And throughout it seems that the best chunks of dialogue have been given to him. But Brad Pitt comes out with some wonderful one-liners throughout the whole film, most of which are arrogant and incredibly egotistical, but that’s the chracter he was playing.

I think if you love Quentin Tarantino’s work or you have seen any of his other films, you will definitely enjoy this. If not it’s a good one to start on. Definitely worth seeing, I cannot wait to go and see it again!

Tumblr

19 08 2009

Ok, so I joined Tumblr yesterday and I thought I would give a little bit of info about why I have and how awesome it is.

I basically wanted somewhere I could upload all the funny links and pictures I see across the internet. I felt that this blog was possibly a little too formal for that sort of thing, so I joined Tumblr. And I love it, but don’t worry because I won’t be leaving this site to rot and die, I’ll still update with Of the Month and reviews etc.

The main attraction for Tumblr was that it is free and remarkably easy to use, at the click of the button you can post anything from anywhere. You can even have you blog feed running through it. I’ve already started blogging so head over there and check it out.

So head over to my Tumblr now and check it out, I’ll be updating all of my feed options mid-September so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Take care, Adam.

Twitter – My 1000th Tweet

14 08 2009

Yesterday I posted my 1000th Tweet on the popular microblogging site Twitter. I feel that it is some form of achievement, as I have only been using the service since the very end of February. It’s not a very exciting Tweet to be honest, but it’s my 100th none the less!

To see my 100th Tweet click here.

To view all of my Tweets click on the nice little blue icon on the right (it follows you when you scroll down!).

Anyway, just thought that I would let you all know that!

Take care, Adam.

Favicon!

12 08 2009

I’ve finally got a favicon on the site! After about an hour of fiddling I’ve done it! If you don’t know what a favicon is, it’s the little icon that appears next to the url in the web address bar. Mine looks like this:

And I think it suits the site very well. Feedback would be greatly received, so just fill out a comment below to let me know what you think!

Take care, Adam.
